John – Quinta De Marinha

Well, another tough campaign ended last night with most of us getting back to our homes in the early hours.

As always we had a great time, and played some great courses (some of us not that well)

Quinta De Marinha was a good start and those in form and those out was revealed early on

Aroeira 1 was in truth a bit of a disappointment. Although the course is lovely its condition was very poor apparently due to problems with their irrigation system. It wasn’t just that, the tee boxes were the worse that anyone had seen. To be fair we took issue with them at the end of the day and we were compensated with a case of their fine wine. Suggest you do not recommend the course to other clients (although they told me that Aroeira 2 was ok)

Oitavos Dunes was fantastic, although again for the high handicappers playing it on a very windy day extremely daunting

Royal Obidos was the substitute and as you suggested well worth the trip up there. A wet and windy day made us feel right at home.

And finally Penha Longa. Delightful, beautiful setting and in really good condition. Able to use hotel changing and shower facilities and the end of the day before airport transfer.

The transport arrangements worked perfectly with no problems at all

Finally, as I knew it would be, the hotel was great. It was busy but we knew that.

Thanks for all your help, particularly when it came to the ever changing numbers.

I now hand over to my friend Bob Taylor who no doubt will be in touch soon, but start thinking about Puerto Banus for next year

Many thanks,

John
