Phil – Algarve
Just providing you with some feedback from our recent 7-day golfing break to the Algarve.
Everything went absolutely superbly, from the moment we touched down in Faro until the time we landed back in Manchester. Our only delay was a short wait for our luggage and golf clubs at the carousel, and we were greeted at the airport as promised. Our journey to Albufeira was only about half as long as we expected, taking approximately 25 – 30 minutes, and hotel check-in was very rapid.
The hotel was very much fit-for-purpose, with the additional facility of fridge, toaster etc. being put to good use by us all by way of popping along to the local supermarket on a daily basis to make up sandwiches / rolls for snacking on the golf course ( saving us plenty of euros ). The location of the hotel was ideal for us, allowing us to stroll down to the old town for breakfast and also take a 10 minute walk up to “the strip” of a night time.
The only disappointment we had came on our first day’s golf at Pinhal, where the greens were in fairly poor condition, but we were absolutely awestruck by the Old Course on the Monday ( more than making up for Pinhal ) and more than happy with the other courses we chose. The services of the coach company were also exceptional, although the drivers do somewhat fancy themselves for a spot of Formula One !!
All-in-all we were very impressed with Portugal in comparison with Spain ( where we’d been for the previous 6 or 7 years ) – it was far more busy given that it was the same time of year, and has made our minds up ( en bloc ) certainly for next September and probably for many years to come.
Speaking of which, could you please provide me with a quote, as soon as you get your green-fees sorted for September 2009 ? Please base this on the same as this years ( transfers, hotel etc. ) but with golf at Old Course, Faldo, O’Connor, QDL North and VDL Royal ? Just in case it makes any difference, although I doubt very much it does, could you please provide a quote based on 16 people as well as the one for 12 ( as was the case this year ) ?
Many thanks for helping make this year’s break such a resounding success, and fingers crossed that we might be able to put more business your way next year as well ?
Kind regards,
Phil
