Porto Santo Golf is the only course on the island of Porto Santo, a short hop from Madeira. It was designed by Seve Ballesteros.
The course
The 18-hole, par 72 course has two distinct parts. The southern loop has lakes, while the northern loop runs along the clifftops.
The signature hole is the par 3 13th, where you need an accurate shot over a gorge to reach a clifftop green. There’s also a 9-hole pitch and putt course, ideal for practising your short game.
The modern clubhouse uses dry-stone walls and natural wood to blend into the landscape, and its bar and restaurant have lovely views of the island and the sea.
Where to stay
The all-inclusive Pestana Porto Santo is on the beach, a short drive from the course. Porto Santo has its own airport, and the island can also be reached by ferry from Funchal.
