Real Club Sotogrande
Golf Course in Costa del Sol
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, founded in 1964, is one of Spain’s best-known members’ clubs and is often ranked among the top courses in Europe. It sits on prime land near the beach, between the River Guadiaro and Sotogrande marina.
The course
The 18-hole course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and is one of his finest. Mature pines, cork oaks, eucalyptus and tall palms line the fairways.
The greens are large, with the contours you’d expect from Trent Jones, and the long tees allow plenty of variety in hole length and pin positions. Sotogrande is also said to be the first course in Europe to use white crushed marble in its bunkers and Bermuda grass on its fairways.
