SLALEY HALL HOTEL AND GOLF RESORT, HEXHAM

With only a 40 minute drive from the center of Newcastle Upon Tyne, the 4* Slaley Hall is a golf resort to choose from for its close proximity to main roads, airport and train stations but at the same time away from the hustle and bustle as it is set in 1000 acres of the Northumberland countryside.   The resort has two 18-hole golf courses on-site, plus other facilities to offer guests a pleasant, fun, or just relaxing stay.

In the new Hall wing of the hotel, there are classic, superior rooms and modern suites.  In the elegant Edwardian mansion house, there is the option to stay in a historic style suite.  All rooms have views of the courtyard, countryside, or golf course.  Decorated in subtle and warm tones and each room including all the extras you need to enjoy your stay such as luxury toiletries, WIFI, TV, tea and coffee making facilities.

The Spa has nine treatment rooms, including the Luxe Dual Suite, where you can be spoilt with a wide range of products.  Spa days and Spa breaks are also available.

The gym at the resort’s health club has a group of fully qualified instructors on hand to offer advice on workout and training techniques.  A 20-metre indoor heated swimming pool and smaller spa pool are available for use as well as the sauna and steam room.

Mr Kennedy’s Brasserie restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner each day.  Named after Thomas Robson Kennedy who held the role of valet, chauffeur and butler to the Major Priestman of Slaley Hall.  The restaurant has views across the terrace and a menu offering inventive food with flavour and flair, along with a good wine to match.  A great place to enjoy a good dining experience.

Tommy Craig’s Bar is always alive with guests meeting for a glass of wine, beer or a cocktail.  With a south-facing terrace the lounge area is bright yet warming on those chillier days.  Light bites and sharer platters are a great lunchtime treat from the menu.

Looking out over the championship golf course, The Claret Jug clubhouse is busy throughout the day with golfers and non-golfers alike enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, be it a cold beer after a game of golf, a cup of coffee or a pub classic meal for lunch or dinner.  Something to suit everyone.

THE HUNTING GOLF COURSE

This treasure of a golf course, sometimes known as ‘The Augusta of the North’ is one of two 18-hole, 72 par golf courses at the Slaley Hall Golf Resort.  Maintained to high standards, the Hunting Golf Course is host to many flagship golfing events.  Designed by Dave Thomas, the golf course has lush, sweeping fairways, streams, lakes, towering trees and many banks of plants, catching the unwary golfer out!  With USGA standards, the bunkers and tricky greens make this multi-championship hosted course a challenge to even the experienced golfer.

THE PREISTMAN GOLF COURSE

Designed by Neil Cole, the 2^nd 18-hole golf course at Slaley Hall is set on higher ground than the Hunting Golf Course.  Crossed with streams and open to the wind, the Priestman Golf Course is like a moorland course, contouring to fit the natural layout of the land.  With stunning views of the Tyne Valley and beyond, this course is ideal for all levels of golfer.  The course is mature and maintained at a professional level, hence already being host to many European Tour events.
