The Best Golf Holidays In Turkey

Turkey may not be your first thought when you think of golf holidays, but this vibrant country with its Mediterranean mysteries is not one to be overlooked. Proudly standing on the borders of Europe and the Middle East, Turkey has a rich history that has taken cultural inspiration from many influences. Golf holidays in Turkey give you much more bang for your buck. Not only will you find some world-class golf courses to enjoy, but you will also get the chance to sample some delights from the fringes of the continent.

Due to Turkey’s geographic location, you can almost be guaranteed plenty of warm weather whenever you decide to visit. The region of Belek, one of our most popular golf holiday destinations, can enjoy up to 300 days of sunshine every year! With this warm weather being complemented by the mesmerising turquoise waters of the Mediterranean, you may question why you hadn’t thought of a golf holiday in Turkey sooner.

Here at Direct Golf Holidays, we work hard to bring you quality golf holidays at an affordable rate. We’ve done the research, so you don’t have to, and we’ve scouted some of the best golf courses in Turkey. If spending a week in the sunshine taking your skills to the next level sounds enticing, check out our list of the best golf courses in Turkey and get ready to pack your bags!

1. CARYA

First up on our list of the best golf courses in Turkey is Carya Golf Club. This stunning course was designed by the architect firm founded by Australian golfing champion Peter Thomson. His vision of creating a venue reminiscent of London’s heathland courses has been pulled off to great effect. Thanks, in no small part, to the nursery of a million heather plants, you’d be forgiven for mistaking Belek for Berkshire. Just don’t try to order a black cab back to your hotel!

2. CORNELIA (THE PRINCE)

The next best course to explore whilst on a golf holiday in Turkey is Cornelia. Situated in the south-west of Turkey, this pleasant golf resort has become very popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Despite the construction of the course taking just nine months, the quality and design of Cornelia looks like something that has been in the pipeline for years. To complement the impressiveness of the course, there are plenty of well-designed amenities to make your day at Cornelia as enjoyable as possible.

3. ANTALYA

Belek continues to provide quality golf venues, making Antalya Golf Course the next choice on our list of the best golf holidays in Turkey. The warm orange glow of the Turkish sun reflects off the lakes here at Antalya, while the perfectly maintained greens and fairways wrap their way around the adjoining Sirene Hotel. There are two different courses to choose from at Antalya, the PGA Sultan and the Pasha. Each one winds its way through woodland and up over sand bunkers, negotiating the water features as it goes.

4. LYKIA LINKS

Rated to be one of the top 100 golf courses in Europe and in at number 4 on our list; the golf course at Lykia Links. This venue was designed by Perry Dye, the son of the legendary Pete Dye, and it’s the first official links course in Turkey. Located just a fraction away from the main Belek golf strip, Lykia Links sits beside a river estuary that runs into the Med. However, don’t be fooled by the pleasantries that surround it. Perry has curated a course here that’s a stark contrast to anything nearby. Proceed with caution and expect a challenge!

5. SUENO

Staying in Belek (it’s served us well so far) we find Sueno Golf Club and Hotel to be the next contender on our list of the best golf courses in Turkey. Here you have two different courses to choose from; the shorter par 69 Dunes, or the championship Pines course. Both courses take advantage of the generous 400-acre site located just a few hundred metres from the coast. Designed by Bob Hunt of International Golf Design, the course opened in 2007 and has been largely successful ever since with tourists and locals enjoying the challenge and the views in equal measure.

6. MONTGOMERIE MAXX ROYAL

You can’t think of top quality golf without thinking about the legend that is Colin Montgomerie. The eight-time European championship holder, along with EGD, turned this former Government Forestry Department into an impressive new course with sustainability and environmentalism in mind. Using the natural sandy areas as a buffer between maintenance and nature, the pre-existing bunkers work well as natural hazards while you work your way through the course. The Montgomerie Maxx Royal works with great effect to bolster the already well-established golf scene in Belek.
