Oitavos Dunes, at Quinta da Marinha near Cascais, is one of the finest courses in Portugal. It’s set among pine woods and dunes, with views of the Atlantic and the Sintra hills from every hole.
The course
The course was designed by Arthur Hills, who aimed to create one of the best golf experiences in Europe. The routing is a continuous loop, nine holes out and nine back, like a traditional Scottish links.
Sweeping fairways and greens sheltered by horseshoe-shaped dunes and wind-bent trees give it the feel of a links course that has been there for decades.
